Jacques Tati’s first color film brings back the endearingly clumsy Monsieur Hulot, hopelessly at odds with the advancements of modern life and hilariously out of place in his sister’s geometric, mechanized home. Winner of the 1959 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Mon oncle remains one of cinema’s most delightful comedies.

Opening the Cannes Film Festival last year, Leave One Day is a charming, heartwarming musical following Cécile (Juliette Armanet), who returns to her native village after her father’s heart attack; a reunion with her teenage crush stirs long-buried memories. Amélie Bonnin’s debut is a warm, retro-tinged feel-good film, punctuated by songs that linger long after the credits roll.
